Type S Masonry Cement is formulated for higher compressive and bond strength than Type N. That makes it the choice for structural masonry, below-grade work, and walls that must resist lateral loads from wind or soil. Our Type S Masonry Cement meets ASTM C150 and C595.
Once a wall goes below grade or has to resist real lateral force, increased strength is preferred. Type S brings a higher strength profile without giving up the workability a mason needs, and its stronger bond helps the assembly behave as one unit rather than a stack of separate pieces.
