St Marys CemPlus™ is slag cement supplied as a supplementary material, permitting the design consultant to proportion concrete mixes for performance. Used where specs allow, it lowers concrete's carbon footprint while improving durability and long-term strength. St Marys CemPlus meets ASTM C989, CSA A3001, and AASHTO specifications.
CemPlus arrives as its own material, ready to complement Portland cement or Portland limestone at whatever proportion the design calls for. The concrete develops a finer pore structure, enhances resistance to sulfates and chlorides, and strength that keeps climbing at later ages. Slag cement is often used to slow and lower the heat of hydration in concrete used in mass concrete pours. The most notable uses are crane bases for large high-rise structures and windmill bases.
